I am a fully insured HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist. My training, was psychodynamic (embedded in Attachment and Object Relations Theory) in nature. Since moving to the UK in 2010, this has been supplemented with Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Skills training.
I therefore think I work within an eclectic model: combining aspects of these theories, the therapy can be as practical, time and solution focused as suits your current needs and readiness for change.
Whilst working within a variety of settings in both the private and public sector, I have focused on adult mental health (specialising in working with people with emotional regulation difficulties and personality disorder), and continue to do so with a part time post within the NHS.
The best place to start is a telephone call by way of introduction and to identify the nature of your interest in therapy. This 15-20 minute call is free of charge and there is no obligation to have a follow-on session(s).
The next step would be an initial session. For therapy to feel effective there needs to be a ‘fit’ (both of the person(s) attending the therapy and the therapist) therefore at the end of this initial session, upon mutual agreement, we would either contract for a further 2 or 3 sessions to establish a formulation and therapy plan (type and duration of therapy) or I could refer you to alternative resources for more appropriate support.
