Traditional Chinese Medicine/ Acupuncture

Robin Burby is a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine and Acupuncture with degrees from both the UK and China.  He is registered and insured with the British Acupuncture Council, the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, as well as the local borough councils.

Robin has worked in clinics in Guildford, Sevenoaks and Brighton and now works mainly in London and Oxted. For the past 8 years he has been volunteering for the Fountain Centre, a charity based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. The Fountain centre offers various therapies to cancer patients and their carers. He has participated in many studies such as researching chronic pain relief in cancer patients, relieving dry mouth following radiotherapy for head and neck cancers, post-surgical right shoulder dysfunction in oesophageal cancer patients, and relief of hot flushes associated with prostate cancer.

Although often Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture alone achieves the desired results, Robin believes in an integrated approach where on occasions he finds appropriately timed referrals to allied complementary and mainstream health care practitioners is the best solution for patient. This patient centred approach is shared by the entire Halos Team of practitioners and movement teachers and Robin is an invaluable member of our multidisciplinary team.

Robin treats a variety of conditions but has particular interests in treating:

·  Pain and headaches

·  Fertility and gynaecology

·  Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne

·  Men’s health including erectile dysfunction and poor libido

·  Support during and after cancer treatment
